| What is a Department Helper ?
The tasks required of a Department Helper may therefore range from Current adjustments to the career structure of Radiographers and other Allied Health professionals means that this role is extending further in many departments, with Assistants setting the patient up for examination or treatment, and in some cases being involved in basic procedures as well. What Qualifications are required ?There is no formal qualification for commencing work as a Department Helper, but many hospitals now prefer staff to have an NVQ Level 3 in the appropriate discipline. Previous experience in a similar department or some other Medical scenario is often very useful. Applicants should note that very few hospitals require Agency Helpers since there tends to be a ready pool of local un-skilled labour from which they can recruit staff. In addition, the posts that are available will often require an individual with extensive knowledge of the workings of the particular type of department. How Much Will I Be Paid ?Pay rates are no longer a National standard for any Agency. A large number of hospitals have now entered agreements with us to supply staff not just at a fixed charge rate but at a fixed pay rate as well. These rates vary from hospital to hospital. In general, you should expect to earn about £10 - £14 per hour. What can I expect of the Agency ?SONOGRAPHERS Medical operates to a stringent recruitment policy. We do not, however, believe that our task is completed when we find you a placement and we instead have an integrated Locum Appraisal System to assist each Department Helper with the Professional Development Plan. more.....
