in the United Kingdom.

This is ideal for any Sonographer wishing to enter
locum employment with in Ultrasound / Sonography,

as  it means a larger number of placements to choose from.

With typical wage rates between £26.50 & £39.13 per hour,
that's between  £46,000 &
£70,000 per year.


What Qualifications are required ?

Whilst there is currently no compulsory Sonography professional qualification for a Sonographer, the UK standard examination is the Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound, or equivalent. more.....


Should I be State Registered ?

Whilst at Sonographers Medical, we know that a Sonographer in the UK is not currently a State Registered Profession under the Health Professions Council, we recommend that you obtain such registration if you are entitled to do so. (If you are dual qualified as a Radiographer or one of the other professions included under the HPC). This is because many hospitals will only employ a Sonographer who is State Registered even though it has no bearing on their Ultrasound capabilities. more.....


Am I allowed to work as a Sonographer in the UK ?

To work as a Sonographer in the Ultrasound /Sonography through Sonographers Medical you must have an appropriate Ultrasound qualification and a Right To Work in the UK. more.....


How Much Will I Be Paid as a Sonographer?

Locum Sonographer Pay rates are no longer a National standard for any Agency.

A large number of hospitals have now entered agreements with us to supply staff not just at a fixed charge rate but at a fixed pay rate as well. These rates vary from hospital to hospital.

In general, pay rates vary from £26.50 to £35.00 - but generally you should expect to earn about £30 per hour.

Many Sonographers choose to sub-contract through SONOGRAPHERS Medical in order to take advantage of the tax advantages of working through their own limited Company.  more.....


What can I expect of the Agency ?

SONOGRAPHERS Medical operates to a stringent recruitment policy. We do not, however, believe that our task is completed when we find you a placement and we instead have an integrated Locum Appraisal System to assist each Sonographer with the Professional Development Plan.     more.....

A wide range of ultrasound examinations are performed over 2 adjoining sites, and  include obs and gynae, abdo, small parts , paeds, some vascular and MSK.
